My only apologies is I didn’t stop in sooner to try some of the most amazing flavors combined at once. Delicious hot sauces unlike anything I’ve ever had. By far one of the new gems in downtown.
The service and staff are fantastic. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the items on the menu and giving suggestions. My water glass was always full. The food was great! I had the picadillo arepa and it was a fine portion for a lunch. And it came pretty quickly too.
When this place first opened, by the look of the outside, I figured it would be pretty awful. One drunken night though, a few friends dragged me in and I got some tostones with some guasacaca on top and they were DELICIOUS. I went back for lunch today with some girls and was very impressed by the arepas. I had the Jardinera arepa (grilled vegetables) and it was great! The Domino arepa (black beans and cheese) that my friend ordered looked great too. Plus, each of us spent only about $6 for lunch and appetizers. I definitely recommend Arepa City’s food, but I wish someone would help them with the outside!
This place is AWESOME, coming from someone a Latin food guru! I make and eat this kind of food whenever possible, so I was really excited when it opened and was there the first weekend. To my delight, this restaurant lived up to its hype–it really is delicious and authentic Latin food, a near first for Harrisburg. Definitely go when you get the chance, especially if you love this kind of cuisine!
Wow! excellent! I went with a group and we all liked it very much. It is perfect for lunch. I love the sauces on the table. I had an empanada with carne mechada and a corn flan, actually two corn flans. Very highly recomended. Five stars and more like six if it were possible.
Arepa City is a fabulous new option in 2nd street Harrisburg. Authentic, delicious Venezuelan cuisine. When you walk in you are received by a contagious latin music and casual friendly atmosphere. The food rocks! Everything I tried I liked. Queso blanco empanadas, arepa sampler with carne mechada and “reina pepiada” (chicken-avocado salad), black beans soup, yuca frita, tostones, corn flan… everything! I have been back at least 3 times and I can’t wait to be back again. The place is kid friendly and if it is not too busy and you are lucky, you’ll get Daniel the chef-owner coming out of the kitchen to greet you and tell you stories about Venezuela, its people and food… If you don’t see him around, don’t worry, you’ll get Erin, she is really nice, better looking and an excellent waitress! If you go once, you’ll be back a million times!
