Changed it’s name to Table 15? New ownership? Now American Fusion cusine.
I really hope this upgrade will help out this resturant. Like people have been saying Bayou had really nosedived with the quality of their food. I liked the cajun cusine there 2 years ago, but it seems that had gone by the way side as of late.
The Bayou has really nose-dived. When it first opened, the food was good. The last several visits have been below average. The food was not as good. I was given, not once, but twice, curdled milk for my coffee. The wait staff is not as efficient or pleasant. And if you park on the side street in warm weather, hold your nose - the rotting garbage smell is nauseating! I hope the owners step it up.
The food was poorly prepared and tasteless, espcially to claim the flavorful menu of the Louisianna style cuisine. I would advise that everyone steer clear.
Having recently traveled to the south and having been in New Orleans a couple of times I can assure you that this is for all essential purposes bad southern diner food.
Dont be fooled by the cute decor that is inviting to the eye.
This is as Cajun as Panda Express is authentic Chinese!!!!
I live and work in Midtown and this is the closest restaurant for me so i was hoping it would be at least average. I have tried lunch, dinner and brunch, with each time being an adventure in bad service and inconsistent food. At brunch after waiting 45 minutes for our food the waiter came over and asked us what we ordered. After another 30 minute wait we got our entrees, which included burnt french toast and chewy fried oysters as highlights. While the waiter comped the entire meal it doesn’t make me ever want to return. Lunch and dinner vists included the usual long wait for food with ribs so tough and tasteless I didn’t even bother to get them replaced. My word of advice is to stay away.
Nothing has changed (except ownership, apparently) since I wrote my first review of this place. It just plain sucks. The crab cakes were dry and the bread was hard. Does anyone in this place actually taste the food that’s prepared? The corn that came with the crab cake was incredibly over salted, and had a very rich sauce that would have been better on the crab cake, than on the corn.
And one of the “chefs” made an appearance at the table of the person I think may have been the new owner. Regardless, the “chef” was dressed in nasty greasy shorts that were hanging low in the back. If you’re not going to look the part (or at least look clean) then stay in the back of the house.
We decided to try Bayou again after hearing that it was under a new owner/management. We had written this place off in review #5 on this site.
All in all a vast improvement in the front of the house. The staff is courteous, attentive and informative. We had the sea food pies (special) for a starter. Flaky puff pastry with chorizo, crawfish and shrimp with a spicy remoulade. Excellent
For entrees, I had the meatloaf that was wrapped in bacon with healthy sides of mashed potato and corn. My girlfriend had the blueberry ribs that were very moist with a side of sweet potato. For dessert, we had the bananas foster. It was quite good as this dish is normally prepared table side. Which means the staff were prompt in getting the order out as soon as it was made.
Portions are large, food is tasty and prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is unique in terms of a relaxed yet elegant feel. Overall, the restaurant is very appealing. They finally do take credit/debit (the old owner made you go to the basement and use an ATM if you did not have cash) and it is still a B.Y.O.B
We had 7:30 reservations and we only saw three other tables there on a Friday night! I hope this isn’t normal as this restaurant has finally come together. I wish them the best and highly recommend this charming little restaurant.
I’ve been here a few times and always thought the food was good, a little overpriced, but really good. However I will not be returning. I ordered the flank steak and it was burnt. I understand it’s supposed to be cajun but I never thought cajun meant burnt. Terrible!

I look forward to trying the new resturant.
