The Fieldhouse is fine, the biggest reason being that the Newberry Township area needs something like this. The site has failed about four times before, as the Jolly Coppersmith/Starting Gate Lounge, KCKlinger’s, then KoKoMo’s before Sean … well … you know.
(I’ll quote the Fieldhouse’s MySpace page: “On March 30th, 2008 this interesting location was re-opened by a dirty duo with ill intentions! On June 2nd, 2008 corporate rescue efforts were exercised on behalf of their financial backbone just after a mere 65 days of operation.”)
The Fieldhouse is KoKoMo’s Junior. Although that’s probably a bit unfair. The menu is essentially KoKoMo’s, done by a different staff (or is it?). Heavy on wings, but a nice selection. I give thumb’s-up to any place with seafood nachos, and they’re really not bad. Plenty of baby shrimp, plenty of good, real cheese.
The female bartenders seemed a little too intent on being “too cool” to let the bar be a sports bar. They always wanted it to be more about the music rather than the TV sports. But, in true KoKoMo’s style, they have personal TVs in the dining booths, so it doesn’t really matter too much.
Overall, it’s a place I wouldn’t mind having lunch at any time. As far as dinner, I’ll probably go elsewhere, although it’s close enough to home that the Fieldhouse might win out on occasion when I don’t feel like driving. (P.S. I usually feel like driving to eat what I like. Chuckle.)
LOVE this place! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great food & it’s an old grist mill (I’ve heard rumors that it’s haunted)–could it GET any better?!!! This place is casual with plenty of character! Give it a try–you won’t regret it and you’ll be back!
Good place to hang out, have some drinks, eat some decent bar food and hear some good live bands! Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, for the most part! Kill the TV’s in the big room when bands are playing and it’ll be perfect.
The Fieldhouse in Etters is a pretty cool place. The building is HUGE. I went on a Saturday night. It was busy at the bar, but we got a seat. The staff was a lot of fun and they served up good pub grub. The menu has a lot of items, from apps to sandwiches to full entrees. I had a very cheesy chicken quesadilla. My boyfriend got wings. Believe the warning on the menu…the Sudden Death Wings will make you cry and sweat all at the same time. But I say dip them in the blue cheese dressing and that will help save you from SOME of the burn. If you’re a smoker you can go downstairs to the full service Beer Cave where there’s also a pool table. The night we were there they had a band on stage. Overall we had a great time and I can see us going back to watch Sunday football or something like that
