We have been patronizing Sakana since the day it opened. Absolutely the best, freshest, most appetizing and delicious sushi in the area. The quality, the price and the attention to detail given to each sushi creation is unsurpassed. My husband spent 7 years in Japan eating sushi regularly, and says it is the best he has ever has stateside. The waitstaff has changed over the past few months, and is somewhat inexperienced, but you have that anywhere. BYOB works for us. There is always a complimentary melon for dessert, if you are too full for mochi ice cream. As demonstrated by the accuracy of one of the previous posters in providing the link to the inspection report — there are no health violations — the place is meticulously clean and well-kept. Definitely a place to spend your hard-earned $$$$ in this economy — well worth it!*****
Johnny — Don’t know what your agenda is here, but a few points:
1. Department of Agriculture conducts restaurant inspections, and they were at Sakana in 2009. Here’s the report. They were in compliance for everything.
2. My wife and I went there every week for a few months (until she got pregnant…no more sushi until August) and the waitstaff was always very, very friendly and professional. They greet you the moment you walk in, are very nice and attentive throughout the meal, and say goodbye on your way out.
3. We’ve been to about eight different sushi restaurants in the area. Not all of ‘em, but a lot. Sakana is our favorite by far.
STAY AWAY from this place! The food is ok. However, I have never and I mean NEVER been treated so rudely and with such a total lack of respect by any restaurant waitress, manager or owner as I was here. I would not go back here if it was the last restaurant on earth.
Also, this establishment has a number of health violations - check the PA DoH website.
Try the TNT roll if you prefer cooked/partially cooked sushi. It is awesome, kind of pricey though because it’s a special. One word of caution for this place…they charge you for every refill on drinks and the glasses they give you are the tiniest glasses I have ever seen in a restaurant. You would think that they would at least give you a large glass if they charge for every drink. If you are over 21 I recommend BYOB.
