Taken advantage of on New Years - Will never go back!

My wife and I dined at Sammy’s with another couple on New Year’s Eve and we were stunned to discover that they had jacked up the prices by about 30% over their normal prices. Paying over $100 per couple at a BYOB when ordering veal parmigian is inexcusable. My dish usually costs about $20, but because it was New Years I had to pay about $30! And on top of the artificially high prices, they jammed too many tables and chairs in the small dining rooms to take maximum advantage of their now physically uncomfortable patrons. It was impossible to stand up falling into the table beside us. The food was OK, but taking advantage of customers so blatantly in such tight economic times was insulting. There are just too many alternatives to have to put up with such arrogance. Nobody in my party will be returning… and judging by the faces on the other patrons who were shoehorned into their seats while having their pockets picked, I doubt many of them will return either.

Absolutely the worst service (with attitude) and the food was downright horrible. I had to send my steak back 3 times! The rest of our party had serious issues with the servers attitude! The 7 of us all decided that none of us will be back!

I usually don’t do this sort of thing but we had an unfortunate experience at Sammy’s recently and it disturbed us greatly. My son had just begun enjoying his entree when we hear him say “There’s a piece of metal in my food” and promptly pulled out a piece of STEEL WOOL from his mouth. We called the server over who indicated he would speak with the manager. We finished our meal, the server brought the check with no mention of the unfortunate experience. We were astounded. I would have expected the manager to come to our table immediately after the discovery and apologize profusely and offer some sort of compensation. When presented with the check, we asked to see the manager. No apology was given and the only compensation he offered was a free dessert. I suppose I could overlook no compensation for the entree but no apology is unexcusable and unacceptable. I hate to think what might have happened if that piece of STEEL WOOL had not beed found before swallowed. To be fair, the food was great but we won’t be returning to Sammy’s anytime soon.

i eat at sammy’s just about every week, and have always had a great meal. it definitely has a unique atmosphere. When busy it gets quite loud, however the quality and the creativity of the food is great. Sammy is simply the best sauce maker I have ever sampled. The best linguine in white clam sauce in the world. his abruzzi sauce is too die for, as his chicken rossano. Sammy is a master and his restaurant should be treasured.

I’ve dined at Sammy’s pretty many times in the past couple of years, and I’ve never had a bad experience. A few times we had no reservations and we were seated promptly. The food has always been great, as well as the service. I love the atmosphere in this quaint establishment. I just made reservations for tonight and I’m looking forward to it. I’m moving out of the area in a week and I will definitely miss Sammy’s…

The kitchen is right where you eat. If you want to smell go here.

The right choice if you are looking for Italian food in the vicinity of second street. Great food with service to boot. The space is a bit cramped and noisy.

I’ve had some all right meals at Sammy’s, but have had some less than stellar service . . . for no apparent reason we’ve been packed like sardines into tables that were too close to others, when there were nicer tables available (and not reserved and went unused our whole meal) . . . I’ve also been rushed through my meal on more than one ocassion.
