If only I had read these reviews first….I would have rather eaten the dirt off my shoes! THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING! Thats all I can say without wanting to throw up!
In the past the diner was a good place to eat but as of September 2011the diner has taken a dive. We have eaten there many times and these past 2 experiences were terrible. The last time the chicken tenderloins were grisly and the broccoli was so hard that you had to cut it wlith a steak knife. Also, we had ants crawling on our table. You think the manager would have said something when it was brought to his attention, not. Tonight the chopped steak was as tough as shoe leather, the carrots were hard and had no taste. Had to ask 4 times for creamer for my coffee. We were told that the only hot vegetable they had was carrots but as we were leaving the waitress was sitting there eating broccoli. Perhaps it is the new cook that came on board. The manager, however, did like looking at herself in the mirror on the pole and socializing with her co-workers. When we were paying our bill she did not ask how our meal was, have a good evening or anything other than what our total was. Yes, we will be going somewhere else. It is so, so sad.
Well the other reviews are pretty accurate. I used to work for this establishment. i absolutely would not recommend employement here unless you enjoy bad tips, rude customers, and being treated like pee-ons by the greeks…unless of course, you’re younger and have a nice body. if you must eat there, i would suggest going in after 8, the manager on is very polite and accommodating, but order a soup or salad since it takes the cooks forever on third shift. if you are looking for a decently priced greek menu, i suggest the Skyline restaurant on Allentown Blvd. Every Tuesday is greek night and it comes with desert. most of the waitresses suck, but at least you’ll have a decent meal that won’t break the bank. and remember…you’re waitresses only get paid $2.83 an hour…which is more than most of them deserve, but to those of us trying to raise families on those pennies, your generosity is appreciated.
One of the best restaurants in Central Pennsylvania. As a retired truck driver I know good food and quality service. You’ll find that here at the Summerdale Diner.

7/11/2010 I had just had a rough night at work…at West Shore Country Club. I do in fact waitress and bartend for a living at the present time, so when I go out to eat anywhere, I expect the same courtesy I give to my customers. My dinner (a reuben…NEVER get a reuben here) was absolutely HORRIBLE! The worst I have ever eaten! But as I sat there with this repulsive food in front of me for 10 minutes…I could see the reflection of my waitress in the window. She was chatting with another co-worker and having a grand old time and never ONCE came to see how our meals were. I had to get up and go to her to ask her for some dressing…which didn’t help I might add. Then, upon leaving, the man who rang us out never asked us how anything was and never said have a nice night or anything that would make me think he even HAD a personality!! This isn’t my first experience with poor service at this diner, but I assure you it WILL be my last!
I live very close to this diner, and let me just say–if your only choices are to eat here or go hungry, just go hungry. First of all, this IS NOT a Greek restaurant so I don’t know why it’s on this list. It’s Greek-owned, but there’s no Greek food on the menu. Second of all, this place charges outrageous amounts for the poor, poor quality food they serve. One would think diner fare would be hard to screw up, but they’ve found a way! Don’t waste your time or your MONEY eating here.
As far as area diners go, The Summerdale is a dependable and consistent go-to for breakfast and lunch.
The Eggs Benedict is always top notch (as far as diners go), the omelets are generously portioned and the home fries are always relatively fresh.
On the downside, the coffee is kinda weak and if you’re under the age of 35 and not wearing a Nascar hat chain smoking with three kids at the table, you may feel out of place.
