I’ve been to Tokyo Diner in Windsor Park (Mechbg) and Londonderry Road … very dirty. Mikado Japanese Steakhouse (Hampden Center) was a favorite until the sushi chef coughed into his hand and then continued rolling sushi … Fuji Do is great if you’re not a hurry to eat .. Sapporo East is GREAT but get there early. Miyako dowtnown Hbg is great for lunch. There is small sushi restaurant across from Windsor Park in Mechbg called ZEN. They have a “build your own rolls” as well as alot of different foods - not just sushi. It’s a little pricey but well worth it .. try the sweet potato roll for something different!

My girlfriend and I are sushi junkies, and after trying a few different places around Harrisburg (Fuji Slow, Miyaki, etc.) we tried one of the Tokyo Diner establishments near Hummelstown. The atmosphere isn’t great by any means — the decor is bland and the restaurant seems slightly understaffed — but our sushi has been magnificent so far. After checking with a few co-workers, it seems that they kind of frown upon the Tokyo Diner chain. Maybe because it’s a chain, who knows. We’ve been thrilled by the food we’ve received, and have made the trip to Hummelstown every Friday for the last four or five weeks.

The prices are totally reasonable for sushi. I’d recommend the spicy tuna or spicy salmon rolls with tempura flakes since they’re delicious and cheap. The individual pieces of fish are great, especially the salmon and eel (Unagi). Also, the handrolls / cones are packed with fish, not rice.

They also have a large hibachi service, as well, but we haven’t tried that yet.
